This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

TMDB supplies our expanded catalogue’s descriptions, images, audience scores, classifications and video references. Videos play through YouTube. Posters and films belong to their respective rights holders.

Audience scores shown on movie pages are TMDB user ratings out of 10. The Lov Score is the average of Lovmovies parent ratings out of 5. Neither is an assessment of age suitability.

How starting ages work

Existing age-guided picks keep their linked review guidance. For other films, we use UK classifications supplied through TMDB to offer a provisional starting point where available: U → 4+, PG → 8+, 12/12A → 12+, 15 → 15+, and 18 → 18+. Where classifications differ across releases, we use the higher supported age.

The BBFC’s U guidance refers to what is generally unlikely to unsettle a four-year-old, and its PG guidance to children around eight. These starting ages are estimates, not individual film reviews or Canadian classifications. A U film is not necessarily aimed at children. We leave the age pending when no supported classification is available.

How parents help

Each signed-in parent can leave one editable rating, minimum-age suggestion and review per movie. The parent age is the median of all suggestions. After five parents contribute, their rounded-up median can raise the displayed starting age. It never automatically lowers existing guidance. The starting source and parent view remain visible separately.

Five responses is a product threshold, not proof of suitability. Parent suggestions reflect individual experience. Always consider your child’s sensitivities and the context in the reviews.
